I worked as part of a team building the Tax credits service. I was responsible for building the prototypes used during user research and development. Prototypes were also presented to stakeholders for sign off.

The Money Advice Service had seen an increase in mobile traffic. And had built a responsive website. The pension calculator was the first product to be built following a mobile-first approach.
New government legislation meant payday loan companies had to provide a link to the Money Advice Service website. This was an opportunity to provide people with advice on getting out of debt and alternatives to taking out payday loans.
Love it or loathe it. Designing an email newsletter signup generates debate. Stakeholders what to maximise sign ups. Designers want to provide a non intrusive experience. Making sign up as painless as possible.
Stakeholders were concerned a responsive website would compromise the experience of existing budget planners.
Existing product planner designed in house. With no user acceptance testing or consideration of farmers needs. Planner based on a spreadsheet calculating recommendations and outputting PDF’s. Existing product lacked flexibility.
Yara wanted to change its strategy. From providing technical information to suppliers to providing educational information to farmers. This was a pilot project for US and French country specific websites.
I respect what the BBC do web / mobile / TV / wise. So when I wanted to play around with a new version of Axure. Who better to rip than old auntie herself.
I have used this to explain the idea of prototyping to clients. Seeing a familiar website in prototype form has helped clients appreciate what can be achieved by building prototypes.
